SCTelcom Efforts During the COVID-19 Pandemic

SCTELCOM understands the impact COVID-19 has made on our customers in rural Kansas and Oklahoma. We also understand the importance of maintaining connections, whether for school, work, simple social interaction without in-person contact, or the very valuable e-commerce transaction.

First and foremost, the health and safety of our employees, as well as our customers, is very important. To that end, SCTELCOM has closed all business offices to the general public. Employees are still reporting, some on a rotational basis, to increase social distancing at work. While we are continuing to deploy new connections, we are pre-screening each service call. We are also constantly monitoring the CDC, KDHE and Oklahoma State Health Department for the latest guidance regarding the pandemic and guidance regarding public health and safety.

SCTELCOM is committed to keeping our customers and communities connected.
Through May 31, 2020, SCTELCOM is offering the following:

  • SCTELCOM is providing free Internet and WIFI access for the purpose of online learning to households with K-12 students, teachers and/or college students who do not already have an Internet subscription that are located in SCTelcom’s service area.
  • SCTELCOM has upgraded ALL existing fiber optic Internet subscribers to at least the SOCIAL SURFER package with no additional monthly charge. ALL other existing fiber optic Internet subscribers with SCTELCOM’s Managed WIFI have been upgraded to the SMART HOME package. These upgrades are in effect until May 31, 2020.
  • SCTELCOM is providing as many ‘Drive Up WIFI’ hotspots as possible in our service areas for free public use. Watch Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, as well as the SCTELCOM website for notices regarding new Drive Up WIFI hotspots in the coming days and weeks.
  • Finally, SCTELCOM will NOT disconnect any service due to non-payment through May 31, 2020. Monthly charges will continue to be billed, but late notice penalties will be waived through May 30, 2020.

The SCTELCOM network is reliable and will continue to provide our customers consistent, “always on”, connectivity with NO DATA CAPS. SCTELCOM employees are equally capable of providing support to our customers.

Sincerely,
Carla Shearer, CEO
